ABOUT TOM

 

Whether behind the desk or in the field, Tom George is a dynamic storyteller who connects with viewers and the community. He's currently based in Raleigh / Durham, NC as a reporter and anchor for ABC-owned station WTVD.

His career in journalism has taken him across the globe, most recently in Hawai'i as nightly anchor and reporter for KITV4 (ABC) in Honolulu.  He also worked in Las Vegas, where he covered the 2017 mass shooting, as well as Oklahoma City, and Macon, Georgia.

Tom is a proud Terp, graduating from University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism. While at UMD, he interned for the Washington Bureau of NBC News and WRC-TV NBC4 in Washington, D.C.

 

Originally from Columbia, Maryland, Tom spent part of his childhood in England. He also studied in Barcelona, Spain, and is fluent in Spanish. His love of languages and travel fits perfectly in a career that doesn't feel like work - every day is a privilege getting to connect with new people and places, and being able to inform and inspire the community with reporting that makes a difference.
